Working with [Variable] Type in p5.js Led by Ivan Zhao Learn the basics of variable typography and how to animate it on the web with p5.js. We’ll look at how variable fonts can shift across weights, widths, and forms, explore their connections to concrete poetry and kinetic type, and use p5.js to create responsive, dynamic letterforms. Experience Level: All levels; some familiarity with p5.js, Processing, or JavaScript is helpful Please Bring: A computer and something to draw on About the Instructor: Ivan Zhao is a writer, designer, and artist based in San Francisco. He works primarily with nonlinear narratives, forms, and mechanics that reckon with digital, diasporic, and queer identity. In the future, he hopes to grow infinite hands to pet infinite dogs. This Workshop is part of Gray Area x TIAT Present: Processing Community Day San Francisco Celebrating 25 years of Processing! Event Logistics: Workshops and talks are open to all ages. Children under the age of 16 should be supervised by a parent. Workshop attendees should bring their own laptops. Workshops will take place in the classroom and are not ADA accessible.
