From epic poems to Bollywood films and beyond, the stories of Hindu gods and goddesses have traveled across centuries and cultures. But how have these myths been adapted and reimagined through modern media? In this lecture, Vamsee Juluri, Professor of Media Studies at the University of San Francisco, explores the world of “mythological” cinema, drawing on his research and personal experiences growing up in a film family. He’ll show how these stories blend entertainment with deeper questions about culture, ethics, and identity.
