⚒️ What has it really meant to work for a living throughout human history? From ancient miners and medieval blacksmiths to factory workers and farmers, earning a living has often come at a profound physical and emotional cost. Yet the history of work isn't just preserved in historical records—it's captured in paintings, sculptures, poems, and literature that reveal what life was really like for the people who built our world. In this lecture, Dr. Paul Blanc, Professor Emeritus at UCSF and former Chief of Occupational, Environmental and Climate Medicine, explores the history of labor through centuries of art, literature, and medicine. Drawing on remarkable visual works and literary accounts, he reveals how artists and writers documented the dangers, dignity, and daily realities of working life. Spanning thousands of years, this talk uncovers the hidden human cost of earning a living—and what the history of work can teach us about the world we labor in today. 🎨📖 🕰 Event Details What should I expect? 7:00-7:35 --> arrival & chats 7:35-8:20 --> lecture 8:20-9:00 --> q&a and more chatting Who's invited?
