On Saturday, June 20, the Oakland East Bay Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority is hosting a Juneteenth celebration featuring a screening of the Academy Award-winning documentary "Summer of Soul (...Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised)" at SMC Sullivan Community Space. The film explores the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival and its significance to Black music, history, and resilience. After the 4-hour event (1 PM–5 PM), attendees will participate in a panel discussion focused on Black joy, memory, and liberation.
