Kitka, a 10-voice ensemble from Oakland, performs traditional and contemporary music from Balkan, Baltic, Caucasian, Mediterranean, and Slavic regions as part of the Redwood Grove Summer Concert Series. The show takes place Thursday, June 18 from 5:00–7:00 PM in the UC Botanical Garden at Berkeley's redwood grove in the Berkeley Hills. The ensemble has spent 45 seasons collecting songs directly from tradition bearers in Eastern Europe and the Caucasus, blending ethereal and earthy vocal textures in their performances. This concert marks the summer solstice and celebrates the global release of Kitka's album Kolo. The event is sold out.
