Bay Area native Jordan Zarou is an emerging Palestinian American filmmaker whose debut short film, The Anniversary, is a 32-minute journey into the lives of a Palestinian family navigating a post-9/11 America. Salim, a young musician returns home to celebrate his parent’s wedding anniversary. Upon his arrival, he and his family’s true priorities are put into question when his mother requests that he drop out of college in order to help their struggling family business. Now with his future on the line, Salim must choose between his personal ambitions and his responsibilities to the family that raised him.
