Ousmane Sembène's landmark 1966 debut feature about a young woman's journey abroad that becomes a quiet descent into isolation. Co-presented by SF Black Film Festival as part of BLEAK WEEK, this complexly layered critique of colonialism features a moving performance by Mbissine Thérèse Diop and is preceded by Sembène's first film BOROM SARRET.
