Rise & shine ~ it’s Golden Hydrant glow-up time ✨ The Golden Fire Hydrant, located near Dolores Park (Location: Church & 20th Streets, San Francisco, California), holds a significant historical value It played a crucial role in saving the Mission District from burning down during the 1906 earthquake when other hydrants and water lines failed. Its water supply helped save thousands of homes in the area. Each year on April 18th, at 5:12am it is repainted in gold to commemorate this event. The hydrant is ceremonially repainted in gold by the San Francisco Fire Department and community members.
